Per Se – 3 Michelin Star Restaurant in NYC (To Be Updated)

In 2022, I went on a 3-day business celebration trip to New York City for the first time. My team and I wanted to celebrate a big milestone and was deciding where to go for that – we picked New York City to have a fancy meal at Per Se (more on this on a later blog post)! We had to make reservations way in advance for Per Se.

When we walked inside, our waiter greeted us and sat us down at a really nice table beside the window overlooking the streets. We were greeted by other staff members too and asked about our day and they also congratulated us! The service was very memorable overall.

Below is our menu when we sat down. It was a very long menu and everything sounded DELICIOUS!

FIRST DISH: SALMON CORNET

A welcoming dish of salmon and cheddar cheese and crackers.

GOLDEN RESERVE CAVIAR

I started with a chamomile tea with honey, which really soothed my throat. The dish that was served after had a mix of caviar, radishes, avocado, and scallion vinaigrette. It was so refreshing with each ingredient!

SALAD OF ROASTED CELERY BRANCH

A salad with beets, honeycrisp apples, celery, and truffle. If you’re not a big fan of beets and celery, this might be a bit tricky to eat. I did enjoy the flavour they added to the vegetables though!

SLOW-POACHED HUDSON VALLEY MOULARD DUCK FOIE GRAS

I opted for a different dish but if you’re a big fan of foie gras, this dish is for you!

BLUEFIN TUNA TATAKI

I love tuna tataki and this also came with a squid ink tempura which was very interesting! There was a soft crunch to it, and the tuna tataki was cooked to the right texture and not too savoury. The zucchini helped tone down the fishiness from the tuna.

MAINE LOBSTER “GALETTE”

Besides tuna, I also love lobster so this is one of my favourite dishes here. It was formed in a unique shape that made it easy to eat. The inside was very soft but still had a strong lobster flavour. The “Creme de Hornard” sauce they used further added more lobster flavour. The best part was also the tarte at the bottom, as you can scoop a piece of that and mix it with some lobster meat and sauce!

SMOKED GRIGGSTOWN FARM POUSSIN

This dish had baked beans, lacinato kale, cipollini onion ring, and “Chow-Chow” (ketchup).

CARNAROLI RISOTTO BIOLOGICO

Parmigiano-reggiano and shaved Australian black winter truffles.

PRIME RIB OF ELYSIAN FIELDS FARM LAMB

Now I can’t eat too much lamb but this looked delicious! There were also roasted squash, artichokes, and eggplant on the side.

CHARCOAL-GRILLED MIYAZAKI WAGYU

Wagyu is one of my favourite meats but I can’t eat too much of it so this is a great amount. The charcoal flavour on the skin was delicious and the meat really melted in my mouth! There was some German potatoes and cabbages on the side. The sauce was a Dijonnaise sauce that added a bit of both sweet and sour flavours to the bite.

GOUGERE

This dish is a savoury choux pastry mixed with aged “Comte” cheese and black winter truffle. It was a great mixture of soft pastry and cheesy sauce!

ASSORTMENT OF DESSERTS

One of my favourite parts of the meal! There was a mix of fruits, sorbet, pastries, and chocolate so it was very refreshing after an intense meal. They even made us a custom donut dessert to celebrate our $1,000,000 milestone.

We also got to visit the kitchen and was greeted warmly by the chefs and staff members!

That’s pretty much it for the short trip to New York! The food I had were all really tasty and there are so many more places I want to try but until next time. I do list a couple other great spots to visit if you have more time!
